Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan - LPS or the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (IDIC) is an independent institution in Indonesia that was created to insure depositor funds and actively maintain the stability of the banking system as duly authorized. IDIC officialy begins operation on 22 September 2005. IDIC was created on the basis of Law number 24 of 2004 concerning the Deposit Insurance Corporation, which was ratified on 22 September 2004 and took effect 12 months upon its raticfaction. The Institution's headquarter located in Jakarta and in 2010 has protected depositors in spite of 1,990 Indonesian banks, which comprised of it is commercial banks, rural banks, or islamic based rural banks. Based on LPS Annual Report 2010, IDIC's reached Rp5.31 trillion as a total operating revenues for the period of 1 January to 31 December 2010 that primarily comprised of Revenues from Insurance Premiums amounting to Rp4.18 trillion (78.72%) and Revenues from Investment of Rp1.13 trillion or 21.28%.
